Film director Nikita Mikhalkov has announced the date of the long-awaited premiere of the sequel of Utomlyonnye Solntsem (Burnt by the Sun).
The film will go on screen on the Victory Day, May 9 in 2010. The continuation of Burnt by the Sun falls into two films plus 12 series for television.
Each of the two films will last for about 2 hours and 20 minutes. The scene of the picture is laid in post-war Russia. The former characters, Mitya (Oleg Menshikov) and Col. Kotov (Nikita Mikhalkov), who were “killed” by the film director in the first part, are “resurrected” by him in the sequel.
“In those years it often happened like that. People seemed to be lost forever, but then they came back from Stalinist camps” – Nikita Mikhalkov explains the unusual course of events.
It will be recalled that the drama Burnt by the Sun was awarded with Oscar as the best foreign language film of the year 1995.
