The Laurence Olivier Prize won by Menshikov in spring of 1992 raised a new wave of interest for the Russian actor. Laurence Olivier is honored in Great Britain as the actor of all the times and Menshikov was awarded as "the supporting actor". He is offered to play Ikharev in the staging of "Gamblers" by Gogol. This time he is to act in English. He does another course of the language studies, plays Ikharev and the spectators have no suspicions that the actor is Russian. There was a funny notion in one of the reviews that Ikharev speaks with the Welsh accent…


In such a situation Menshikov undoubtedly could continue his career abroad. At least in England he had no problems with it. But he left for Russia - to work at home…
